Why Jesus Was Not a Woman

Image
desiringgod.org /articles/why-jesus-was-not-a-woman  October 11, 2020  David Mathis  David Mathis is executive editor for desiringGod.org and pastor at Cities Church in Minneapolis/St. Paul. He is a husband, father of four, and author of Habits of Grace: Enjoying Jesus through the Spiritual Disciplines. More by this author  Executive Editor, desiringGod.org  God became a man, and not a woman. Jesus was a son, not a daughter; a brother, not a sister. He did not labor in childbirth, and until his public ministry began, he worked to provide for his family as a man.  As with his Jewishness, the manhood of Christ is a stubborn, objective fact of history that unsettles modern sentiments, and holds important lessons, challenges, and encouragements for both men and women alike, and especially so in our times of such confusion about sex. So, could Christ have come as woman and not as man?  Without pretending to answer the question exhaustively, one way ...

The Rose of Sharon is Jesus

The Unity of One http://sharonsrose.blogspot.ca/ I wrote a set of articles involving the biblical meaning of numbers One, Two and Three. I hope you get as much out of these writings as I did. I tried to apply these biblical subjects to our lives. Keep looking up because we are very close to the rapture of the Church! I realize that many books and commentaries have been written on the meaning of the number one in Scripture; however, I may be able to give some insights. The number one has a consistent meaning from Genesis to Revelation of unity. The numbers one, eight and fifty are sometimes referred to as transcendent numbers. One would have to be a very important number because it is the first. It speaks of the Sovereignty of God. One of the many reasons God allows us to go through everything we endure is so we will realize that He is in perfect control of our lives, working everything out for good to those that love Him and our called accordi...

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Image
http://grant-phillips.blogspot.ca/2013/03/monkey-see-monkey-do.html by Grant Phillips What causes trends? Basically trends are caused by people mimicking others because they don’t know how to be their own person. Fashions are a good example. Certain clothes, or lack thereof, are fashionable because we want to be like other people. “This is what everyone is wearing.” The marketing industry knows this. They come out with something different from the previous line, so they can make more sales. They parade these new fashions on the “runway” by models. The “elite” purchase. The followers follow. Whether its tattoos, pants hanging down to ones knees, long hair, no hair, spiked hair, colored hair, males with earrings, women in men’s clothing (and vice versa), new car in the driveway, three bath house as opposed to one, etc., societal people have a “monkey see, monkey do” frame of mind. When our favorite Hollywood “star” is a moral pervert, we think that’s okay, and ...

Judgment not Warning- Ron Graham

Judgment not Warning- Ron Graham - twotug@embarqmail.com  “Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.” Proverbs 28:5. As we move ever closer to a world of totalitarianism we will be confronted with some realities that will boggle the mind – some of which will destroy many souls. Such realities will include the denial of basic rights. Freedoms we’ve enjoyed in America for a couple of hundred years are disappearing, most of them during the last four. As an American you may still have the perception of freedom, but that perception is diminishing while despotism becomes increasingly more palpable. God’s judgment is intensifying here on American soil. Yet, most Christians in America are blind to the truth of what is transpiring, and they are not ready for what’s coming. Apparently expressing our views in a public setting is already a crime in this country. A Christian man who had complained about Obama on his blog and on a radio show receive...

CONDEMNATION

Will born again believer in Christ  lose their salvation when they sin ? by Ron Graham - twotug@embarqmail.com “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus,” Romans 8:1. Condemnation is a sphere of entrapment used by Satan and his horde of malevolent misfits to enslave even the followers of Jesus Christ. Every time we stumble and commit a sin the enemy moves in to convince us that we are once again under God’s condemnation. If you are born again and yet you have allowed the enemy to entrap you thusly, it’s imperative you memorize the above verse. If you don’t fall into that category memorize it anyway. Satan will never stop his attacks. Consider the above verse your security blanket. “He that believeth on him (Jesus the Christ) is not condemned: John 3:18a. With this verse, Jesus’ words confirm the simplicity of salvation; believing “on Him” removes all condemnation “…but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in ...

“For many are called, but few chosen?”

Everybody is saved: True or false? Didn’t Jesus die for all of us, for all our sins; the sins of all humanity, our past sins, our present sins, and even for the sins we will do in the future. We conclude that we are all saved. Yes? So why would Jesus stated, “For many are called, but few chosen” in Matthew 20:16?   He died for everybody. Therefore, many are called. So why few are chosen? The chosen ones, what did they do to be selected? What steps did they take to be saved? It is straightforward. If it were so basic than why would only a few know? The chosen fulfilled the only condition that needed to be saved.   They accepted Jesus as the one that God had sent. They believed that Jesus is the Son of God, who paid for the penalty of their sins, John 3:16. Therefore salvation is easy.   So why should others not be chosen.   This analogy will help understand. This analogy explains how easy it is to be saved and why many refuse to be saved. Jesus’ death and resurrec...
